Sapphire Origins

Sapphire Counseling was inspired by the stone of wisdom and the birthstone of the season of change. The sapphire, like therapy, is believed to help motivate deep thought, calm the mind, help to remove unwanted thoughts, depression and mental unease. The goal at Sapphire is to help you develop and apply skills that tap into the strengths already existing within you. We all have the power and ability to transform if we’re willing to learn.

After college I found myself working for 16 years in a corporate career that was wholly unfulfilling. I had always known that I wanted to be a clinician and when I could no longer tolerate my job dissatisfaction, I went after my dream. I loved both of my graduate school internships and as each ended, I stayed on working per diem while still working a full-time job.

While my social work career has predominantly been focused on recovery and grief support, I have sat with clients through phase of life transitions, trauma, relationship struggles, anxiety, depression and other mental health stressors.

Personal development is a lifelong process and like you, I strive to better myself. I try to learn all I can to become stronger in self, my relationships, my career and my interests. I love the outdoors and try to get out into nature multiple times a week. I will typically be snapping photographs, some of which you see on this website. I enjoy the gym, unicorns (I know, I know) and anything to do with music. At home with my wife, you will always find us loving on at least one dog.

I treasure my life experiences, the joyful and painful, because I know they enable me to show up fully for my clients.
